Today’s Meeting 50/50 Winner: Niki Weaver Sergeant at Arm: Fred Cartier Board of Directors Susan Simon and Rob Latimer were nominated and elected to a three year term on the Club Board of Directors. Congratulations Sue and Rob! Citizen of the Year Kenneth J. O’Loughlin has been designated as Red Hook Rotary Club’s 2010 Citizen of the Year. Mr. O’Loughlin volunteers at many community organizations The Citizen of the Year Banquet will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2010. 6:00 PM at the Red Fire House. This event will include a raffle. NY State Legislative members Assemblyman Marc Molinaro and Senator Steve Saland, will be invited to attend. Every Club member is requested to donate a bottle of wine for the banquet. Banquet Tickets will be available in the near future. Club Banners The Club has ordered 40 Club banners for interim use until a final design has been determined for the official Club Banner International Service Committee Our Rotary Foreign Exchange Student Linda Schmit is doing well. At the High School she is involved in the Interact, International and drama clubs. Host family line up for Linda, looks good Drivers are needed for 2 Saturdays, one in late September and one in early October to transport Linda to District Foreign Exchange Student events. If you can help. Contact Glenn Goldstein September 28th Meeting Program The speaker for September 28 is Arthur Pritchard, PhD. He is president of the Community Action Partnership Board (formerly Dutchess Community Action Agency). He will speak about some of the programs they offer to the community and how our club may assist them in increasing community awareness of their programs Interact Club The Interact Club officers have had their first meeting of the year to develop plans for the Club’s 2010-2011 school year. They have laid out plans for several projects and activities. The initial Interact Club meeting for this year will be today.
Rotary United Nations Day November 6,2010 The Rotary UN day this year will be Saturday November 6th. Attending the Un on Rotary United Nations Day is a great opportunity to observe how Rotary and the UN work together on projects around the world ¯ Interact members and Rotarians Leave by train at 6:30 am in Poughkeepsie for the trip to NYC and will walk from the train station to the UN. The UN registration fee is $37.50 not including the train fare.State Assemblyman Speaker at Club meeting Local Assemblyman Marcus J. Molinaro visited the Red Hook Rotary at their recent breakfast to give his annual update of issues and events from the State Legislature. Mr. Molinaro discussed the recently passed State budget with the Rotarians, among other issues
Books and magazines needed for the hospital Fred Cartier is collecting books and magazines for Northern Dutchess Hospital's reading cart. Please bring your magazines and books to Fred at any breakfast meeting. Your change can make a change! Bring your filled Rotary coin boxes to any meeting and donate to Rotary International Foundation's Polio Plus campaign. If you need a coin box, please see Treasurer Bruce Bill and Melissa Gate - Rotary Polio Eradication Challenge Red Hook Rotary has committed to raise $125.00 per member by December 31, 2010 toward the Gates/Rotary Challenge. Members may make a one time $125.00 contribution or make their contribution in installments. Bud Weaver is receiving and recording the contributions for this challenge.
